I never thought I’d say this, but ol’ Billy Boy finally did something right! It’s fast, the new taskbar/dock thing is fucking awesome,
(albeit obviously somewhat inspired by the Apple Dock, with
some elements of the old Windows Taskbar remaining.. even
a couple new touches)
Then there’s the “Library” feature..which I believe is the WinFS
thing they’ve been talking about for years. and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
I’m only at the end of day 2 of using this beta, and I’ve already
deleted the XP x64 that was also residing on the same machine.
How is it that a beta version of an operating system can be better
than any final release by the same company? I don’t know, but
I just hope MS stays on this track, and makes it even BETTER
by the time they have a release candidate ready. Although,
if I didn’t see the words BETA on the screen, or if I hadn’t
known it was a beta when I downloaded it, i would think this
was the final release candidate.
Anyway, kudos to Microsoft for finally releasing something
that’s actually worth a shit.
If you can find it, download it. MS has an official download
somewhere on their site, and of course, you can find it all
over the torrent sites. Just make sure it’s build 7000
(6.1.7000)
